Where To Live In Singapore

Making the decision to relocate overseas is very exciting but it’s a little more involved than moving home and staying in the same country… there’s a lot more to organise and a lot more decisions to make, and it can be harder to decide where to actually move to if you’ve not spent a huge amount of time in your new country.

If you’ve got Singapore in your sights, there are all sorts of lovely places that would be perfect for expats, so it’s simply a matter of doing some research and working out what you’re going to need from your neighbourhood.

Of course, you would be wise to visit the country and your choice of location before you make a decision and get on the plane, ready to change your life, but the internet will always be a good place to begin the hunt for a new place to live.

If you’re looking for something close to local amenities the Orchard Road area of Singapore could be a great choice, although you may find property prices a little higher here than elsewhere. But you get a lot of bang for your buck in the form of a huge variety of cinemas, restaurants, health and beauty salons, shopping centres and excellent transport links.

Or what about the Tanglin area, widely acknowledged as being one of the best places to live in Singapore. There are lots of different types of property to choose from and it’s ideal if you want to be somewhere quieter and with lots of greenery on your doorstep.

Younger expats, meanwhile, may be more taken with Novena, with high-rise condominiums and houses available, as well as lots of shops and restaurants. It’s also close to the city and provides good access to the Pan-Island Expressway.
